The EDU Sensor Board is sensitive current amplifier integrated with a 4mm Sensor Die on a PC board with a useful geometry. It connects directly to the OSC port on the EDU from which it receives power and to which it returns the amplified signal from the sensor capacitor. The EDU control panel provides access to oscilloscope software which operates the Sensor Board. The components on the board are surface mount and can be easily removed or replaced to modify the circuit. As delivered, the Sensor Board has a 4.2 second RC time constant for signal decay with a 220pF sense capacitor. The EDU Oscilloscope software has tools for compensating signal decay, allowing measurements as long as 15 minutes with the 220pF sense capacitor.
The 4mm Sensor Die is mounted on the board in such a way that you have physical access to the top surface of the sensor capacitor. The board also has grounded mounting holes for placing the sensor inside a housing or on a frame. The connection to the EDU uses standard 6-wire telephone cable.
